College-Career Transition Resources

Sharing some resources from organizations and schools offering accessible help for students and 2020 graduates. Some deadlines are very soon (the career exploration class deadline is THIS FRIDAY), so check things out today!

1. HAWAII P-20 TRANSITION SUPPORT FOR CLASS OF 2020:  HTTP://WWW.P20HAWAII.ORG/NEXTSTEPS/

2020 graduates can sign up to get free personalized text support (with option for phone or other meetings) from an advisor. The advisor will help with post-high transitions no matter what post-high school path the graduate has in mind — college-bound, workforce-bound, or undecided are all welcome. 2. FREE CAREER EXPLORATION ONLINE CC CLASSES FOR CLASS OF 2020:  HTTP://UHCC.HAWAII.EDU/NEXTSTEP/

Explore career options as well as the paths to achieve them while earning college credit.

Deadline of 6/19 for the next session starting July 6th. ~24 hrs/wk. Scholarships available for those who complete this free class and want to continue with college.

This useful website is back after some upgrades. While it may not have complete information for each job, it’s a great resource to explore career areas and get an idea of where you can get the right degree for your desired job from within the University of Hawai‘i system. Also provides information on job growth, income, and demographics of people within the field. For those still in school, you can also check on what classes you should take to prepare for continued education or entry into the field.

4. HCC ONLINE STEM COURSES:  HTTPS://EDVANCE.HAWAII.HAWAII.EDU/SUMMER-2020/

Hawai‘i Community College is offering a range of STEM-focused online classes for all grade levels + 2020 graduates.

Classes for higher grades are computer programming and gaming focused, while there is more range of topics for elementary. Classes may also include material kits.

Multiple sessions will run throughout June and July. Elementary classes range from $89-109; middle school classes are sponsored at only $35, and high school classes are $205-$215.
