Updates from Hōkūpaʻa

We want to begin this first newsletter of 2023 by honoring the late Art Souza. We are so grateful for his work in founding Hōkūpaʻa and working with us over the last several years until his passing last month. He was a sincere champion for our cause, and he is dearly missed.

Although losing Art has been difficult, we’re proud to continue our work while remembering him. So in this issue we have: a family engagement Bright Spot from Konawaena Elementary, a festival celebrating another past champion for education, and an important quote from Art to remind us why we do this work.

Kamehameha Schools’ 22nd Annual
Kauikeaouli Festival

Kamehameha Schools’ festival for Kauikeaouli (a.k.a. King Kamehameha III) returns in-person this year to honor his legacy as an advocate for education. The two-day celebration has many opportunities for the community to experience Hawaiian culture together.

Events will take place throughout the days of Friday March 17th - Saturday March 18th, 2023 at the Outrigger Keauhou Resort. See the flyer below for details.
