Another school year is ending, but summer is as full of opportunities as ever!

This month, we went to the Inaugural Senior Finale & Hiring Blitz for West Hawaiʻi to get the Class of 2026 (and some from 2027) connected for their next steps after graduation. We’re also sharing things happening very soon in June.

Summer programs

Graduation season is upon us, and schools are wrapping up the end of another year. Although most summer programs have already closed registration, here are a few things starting next month:

1. Free Keiki breakfasts and lunches will be available at some public school campuses on Monday through Friday (except holidays) from June 9th - July 17th. These are for anyone 18 and under regardless of where they were enrolled. Locations & schedule.

2. The Community School for Adults’ summer term in Kona is open for registration until June 5th. Classes include learning English and preparing for high-school equivalency tests (GED, HiSET). Schedule & registration.

3. Hawaiʻi Public Library System’s annual summer reading challenge runs from June 1st - July 31st, with prizes for all ages. E heluhelu kākou!

4. Vibrant Hawaiʻi’s Resilience Conference is June 12th-13th at UH Hilo. This in-person training is “designed to strengthen local capacity for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.” Registration cost is discounted until the end of May. Resilience Conference.
